By: ATN News

Geneva-Oct8th 2024: By organizing the "First World Autism Philanthropy Forum" during the 57th Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, the Beijing Guangming Charity Foundation, a non-governmental organization with special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), made a major step in increasing global awareness of autism. Held in Geneva, the forum gathered advocates and international experts to explore the possibilities and difficulties related to autism as well as the need of world action.

Presented under moderation by Guangming Charity Foundation Founder and President Li Lin, the event centered on the theme "Raising Global Awareness of Autism." Li thanked the UN Human Rights Council, world delegates, and all those helping the autistic community in her opening words. She said, stressing cooperation to build a more inclusive society, "This is a shared challenge that calls for shared solutions."

Two main issues were underlined by the forum: "Autism Challenges and Opportunities from a Global Perspective" and "Integration of the Disabled and Able-bodied in Autism Care." Professionals from many nations offered their perspectives on the complexity of autism and the need of including people with disabilities into more general society. Presenting case studies of effective initiatives meant to assist people with autism and their families were representatives from China, Algeria, Italy, and other nations.

The occasion came to end with the acceptance of the "World Autism Philanthropy Forum Consensus and Action Blueprint." Key ideas for raising public awareness, winning government support, and advancing worldwide cooperation on autism treatment are described in this paper. To defend the rights of people with autism, it also covers doable actions including public advocacy, knowledge sharing, and capacity building.

The forum also published the second edition of the "Love of Angels" International Youth Paintings Album, featuring artwork created by autistic children. The series honors their inventiveness and emphasizes the need of artistic expression as a means of inclusion.

Emphasizing the need of turning words into meaningful transformation, the forum concluded with a strong call to action. The Guangming Charity Foundation strengthened its dedication to raise awareness of global autism worldwide and create a more inclusive environment for people living with the disorder.

This forum marks the increasing relevance of worldwide cooperation in meeting the needs of people with autism and guaranteeing their complete integration into society as global autism rates keep rising.
